The Problem of Evil

I was going to write a post on the problem of evil, but then I realised that after spending the entire day tallying up land use types in Hanley, I was in a terrible mood and was in no fit state to write anything of such importance and depth. If you were looking forward to this post, my sincerest apologies, and I hope I can rectify the situation next week. It needs a bit more thought anyway.

A Good Weekend (thus far)

This post is written in one of Peter’s happy moods, this should make it a better read.

This morning, I completed my application for TiM and Cumbria Christian Youth Camp.

I am planning to be an Assistant Tent Leader in Cumbria. I was very privileged to be invited by Rachel Stalker to the camp, and I’m looking forward to it. I am also really looking forward to TiM. I was originally thinking of going on TeenStreet, but I feel like some other people could benefit from that more. I already want to be a missionary, but I want to be a missionary now, so I strongly wanted to do some missionary work during the Summer. God’s certainly answered my prayers, and I have at least 3 weeks of mission work lined up ^__^. My holiday is a lot longer than 3 weeks though… Hmmm…

Last night Monika reinstated cake day, and we had a nice big angel food cake, full of gracefully whipped eggs. That was some cake, I tell you. The name really doesn’t appeal to me, aber es hat mir doch gut geschmeckt. We also watched Forrest Gump.

I was going to go Ice Skating this morning with Jonney and Monika, but I was sure I had other priorities that were mre important. I prayed about it, and thought a bit, then remembered I was visiting a lady to see about Russian Tuition. It was a blessing I remembered. That went well, and it inspired me to learn again, which my classes at SFC really hadn’t done.

God Bless, and I hope if you’re reading this you’re having a good day.

An Ill-favoured Sequel

A sequel but not. This post is more by ending an old thread and starting a new one than continuing a saga.

I’ve forgotten what happened over Christmas, or can’t be bothered to remember, and you were all there as well. Except Emma, James and maybe one or two other people who read this blog. But that’s OK, you probably have a Christmas of your own to remember, without looking back at mine.

I think I rounded that off pretty well

Notable Awards

Jessika has now received the Genuine Peter Roberts Great Minds Think Alike AwardFR, for independantly starting a ‘Cake on Fridays’ tradition.

I don’t know what to say. I’m tired and confused. As anyone around me in the evenings can testify, this is usually how I am, and Friday evenings are the worst, because I have the whole weekend in front of me. Sunday evenings are my favourite time of the week, followed by Monday mornings. This is thanks to our church, but by Fridays I just feel pants.

Blog Recrudescence

In which Peter breaks his usual pattern of brutal concision to write the internet’s most indirect apology, and subjects his readers to a probably unwanted account of his Christmas holidays.

If you leave 1000 monkeys in a room full of typewriters for a really long time, will they type a copy of the complete the works of Shakespeare?

Perhaps a better bet would be that they would start a government IT department. But of course, we know that these monkeys are all hypothetical, and that evolution is more along the lines of something as masterly as the House at Pooh Corner appearing out of nowhere at all.

Unfortunately, such misguided scientific theories do not also apply to my blog, even if I did leave it for 40,000 bazillion years, you would probably still not find a decent post that had appeared by some administration error of the guys at Servage Hosting.

In case you fumbled over my drift or lacked the co-ordination to judge where it was going at all, this is by way of an apology for the fact nothing has appeared on this blog for quite a long time.

Christmas Festivities

This was probably the best Christmas of my entire life, and for the first time ever, I’m back at college and I’m actually satisfied with the holiday, and shouldn’t need another break for a while.

It was fantastic having the whole of my family back for Christmas, and some of my extended family came as well on Christmas Eve, so I got to see my cousins after a few years of not seeing them (not sure how many).

I will not provide a definitive list of our visitors, because, knowing my luck, the person I missed out will read my blog, and I may also include people who didn’t actually come.

What did you get?

All my friends ask this, so I will give an answer. However, if you gave me a present which is not listed, please don’t think I hate you.

Well, the highlight was definitely a TI-83+. I don’t know about you, but my opinion is that if your education does not require a graphical calculator, you are on the wrong career path. This was given by my parents along with an OU book on how to use the thing.

Another highlight for me was a book on celtic knots bought for me by Jonney and Monika (how did they know?).

Finally, I would like to highlight the 25 dice bought for me by Mark. This is so I could play perudo, a game I plan to addict the whole of my college to (I’ve already done it with ultimate snap).

I’ll post that for now, because I don’t have time to write the whole thing…
